Mirage Resort and Casino was built by Steve Wynn, Everyone was doubting its success. It cost 1/2 a billion to build and would be many times that if it was built today. The quality of the Hotel and Casino is still hard to beat even though many have tried since then. On opening day in 1989 it was said to have a one million dollars per day overhead. |
Steve Wynn sold the Mirage at a nice profit, then built the Bellagio and Treasure Island and sold them. He then went on to build Wynn and Encore, which He still owns. The Mirage is credited for reviving Las Vegas when it was slumping. Anyone that had not been to Vegas in a while was eager to return just to tour the Mirage. Today it is still very impressive even after all the other mega properties have opened. Mirage definitely still has the WOW factor.

The Mirage is located in what was the most happening spot when it was built. The action has moved south a little bit but this is still a very busy section of Las Vegas Blvd. Next door You will find the Forum Shops to the south and Treasure Island to the North. Across the street is the Venetian. |

Sports book: Huge!! Lcd’s at seats, all digital big screens plus many lcd’s on the rock walls. This is a very impressive looking sports book.

Overall Atmosphere: A must visit, one of the greatest of all time. Just a walk through this place will leave you speechless. The fountains out front are absolutely incredible.
